It’s November, temperatures have dropped and there’s a chill in the air, meaning winter is coming and it’s time to talk about Christmas events!
Après ski is known as a time spent unwinding in slope side bars and drinking one too many drinks after a day on the slopes. It’s where the skis come off and round two of the fun begins full of eating, drinking & dancing. Whilst there might not be much skiing to be had in this country, that doesn’t mean we can’t pretend and still enjoy all the joys of the après at your Christmas event.
Due to the fun and free-spirited nature of the theme après ski a popular choice for Christmas themed events. Corporate Christmas parties, office parties and family parties tend to go for this theme as the décor can be fun yet sophisticated. You want the look of the party to mirror what you might find in the lobby of a luxury resort nestled in the mountains of a ski town in France or Switzerland.
To create the perfect wintery escape, we’ve come up with two different styles of the après ski theme. Each transporting you to the slopes in their own unique way.
WINTER LOUNGE
Our Winter Lounge collection follows a more traditional Christmas colour palette with reds, greens & tartan patterns. It features rich dark woods, burgundy leather, and warm brown faux furs. It’s a cosy style which makes you feel like you’re in a quintessential alpine lodge in front of a roaring fireplace.
FURNITURE
Après ski décor has plenty of rustic elements, so our rustic furniture range is a great option for your lounge furniture to add that alpine lodge feel. Our pallet benches & tables are perfect for draping in faux furs to level up the cosiness. As standard, our pallet furniture and sofas come with white seat pads, why not change it up and have red, beige or tartan?
If you want to go down more of a traditional route with your furniture than our oxblood chesterfield sofas & cube seats are the choice for you offering a timeless elegance.
Our chest coffee tables work well with this theme and are the perfect pairing with our sofas, cube seats or bench seats.
It wouldn’t be an après ski event without a bar so guests can enjoy ice cold festive cocktails, mulled wine, or hot spiced cider from our dark stained pallet bars. Surround the bar area with our oak barrels which can be used as poseur tables and pair with our copper tolix stools or corkscrew stools.
SOFT FURNISHINGS & ACCESSORIES
To complete the look, accessorise your furniture with cushions to match the winter lounge colour palette. Some options we recommend mixing and matching are our red or blue tartan cushions, burgundy cushion, moss green, dark green burlap trim cushion & dark green tassel cushion.
Add to the cosiness with warm neutral faux furs like our dark brown faux fur & light brown faux fur cushions. Our reindeer hides are always a popular choice for ski lodge themed events; drape them over the back of sofas, on bench seats or even use them as rugs underneath our coffee tables. Our red, green & beige traditional rugs also bring the space and theme to life.
The finishing touches will add an ambient light, making the event space welcoming and even more cosy. We have a vast collection of lanterns, candles & votives including our brass lanterns, copper & gold votives, gold candlesticks and red, white & green led tapered candles which would be the perfect addition.
SCANDI
Our Scandi collection is a modern take on the traditional ski lodge theme. It has a much more simple, minimalistic, neutral colour palette with greys, nudes & whites, yet still looks cosy with its faux furs and throws. It still features our rustic furniture but also includes an industrial twist. You’ll feel like you’re in a luxury resort with its modern ski chalet vibes.
FURNITURE
We’re sticking with the rustic pallet furniture for this style, whilst our white seats pads will still look great, if you wanted to add some more colour, you could switch it up and choose a grey velour fabric for your seat pads instead.
To achieve that luxury alpine resort feel choose our white chesterfield sofas for a contemporary twist on our oxblood chesterfield sofas.
For your bars or food counters we recommend our whitewashed pallet bars or our standard 6ft pallet bars which are paler in colour compared to our dark stained pallet bars, suiting the neutral colour palette. You could even add roofs to these bars to hang signage or branding, powdered with artificial snow.
Bar furniture will most likely be needed for guests to lean against & rest their drinks on. Our industrial poseur tables with gunmetal or white tolix stools draped with reindeer hides to soften the industrial feel are a great choice for this scandi style après ski bar.
SOFT FURNISHINGS & ACCESSORIES
When it comes to cushions and throws, choose neutral & tan cushions such as our grey knit cushion, rust cushion, white oyster-linen cushion, grey cable knit cushion & light brown velvet cushion. This scandi style suits grey, cool neutrals & white faux furs like our light brown & grey faux fur cushion and reindeer hides. Pair these with our grey throws for a snug & comfy setting.
Accessorise coffee tables & poseur tables with our hurricane lanterns & white star detail lanterns.
PROPS
Decorate your venue with mountain-inspired decor and stylish ski props to really set the scene.
Clusters of our snow flocked trees in various sizes will make for a brilliant entranceway or stage set, alongside life-size animal props. Guests love a photo opportunity with our animals so including our polar bear, grizzly bear, penguins, or reindeer in your decor will be a great talking point.
Authentic vintage ski props such as our ski rack, skis, snowshoes & sledge are guaranteed to give that traditional ski lodge feel.
To really make your guests feel like they’re in the alps, use our large snowy mountain or forest backdrop and complete the snowy scene with our artificial snow, icebergs & large 3D snowflakes hung from the ceiling.
Lighting is essential to the overall ambience of your event and can take the look from 0 to 100. Festoon or fairy light canopies will make guests feel like they’re looking up at the twinkling night sky. Uplighters will add a warm glow and can highlight certain décor around your venue.
